DANCING CLASSES IN SAN FRANCISCO

A dancing class you can actually use the same night: learn the steps first, then stay and dance them with the room.

$10 in advance — $20 at the door. Book before you leave the house.

WHAT A MONDAY NIGHT LOOKS LIKE

Most dancing classes in San Francisco end when the hour is up and everyone goes home. Ours rolls straight into an open social floor at Neck of the Woods on Clement Street, so the steps you just learned get used while they are still fresh.

The lesson starts from the basic step — timing, leading, following, and a couple of turn patterns. Partners rotate the whole way through, which is why coming alone is completely normal here and why beginners stop feeling like beginners after two or three weeks.

DanceCrazy Productions has been teaching San Francisco to dance for 30+ years, and this Monday night has been running for more than 20 of them. If you want to go deeper, the monthly progressive salsa series builds one skill set across successive Mondays; check the event listing for the actual series length.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Do I need a partner?

No. Partners rotate throughout the class, so solo dancers are the majority most weeks.

I have never danced before. Is this the right class?

Yes. The class starts from the basic step every week and assumes no experience.

What should I wear?

Whatever you can move in. Shoes with a smooth sole turn more easily than trainers.
