SalsaCrazy: A Salsa & Bachata Dance Studio with Multiple San Francisco Locations
SalsaCrazy is a salsa and bachata dance studio with multiple San Francisco locations. Instead of one storefront, classes happen at our venues: Mondays from 6:30 PM at Neck of the Woods in the Inner Richmond, and Fridays at Space 550 on Barneveld Ave.

A studio that meets where people dance
Most people picture a dance studio as a single room with mirrors and a front desk. SalsaCrazy works differently. We teach in real venues, and the lesson leads straight into a dance party in the same room. That means you learn and then practise with real music and a real crowd on the same night.
SalsaCrazy, also known as DanceCrazy Productions, has taught San Francisco to dance since 1995, more than 30 years. Our Monday night has run for 20+ years, and on Eventbrite we have hosted 1,400+ events for 105,400+ attendees. THE SalsaCrazy himself teaches the Monday classes personally — it is the only class he teaches.
Location one: Neck of the Woods (Mondays)
Neck of the Woods, 406 Clement St, San Francisco, CA 94118, in the Inner Richmond. Beginner salsa and beginner bachata start from 6:30 PM every Monday, and a dance party follows the lessons.
This is the class-first location. It is where the 4-Week Progressive Series runs: a new series starts on the first Monday of each month and each week builds on the last. November 2026 is a 5-week series starting Monday, November 2.
Getting there: Muni lines 1-California, 2-Clement and 38-Geary all serve the area, and street parking is on Clement and Geary.
Location two: Space 550 (Fridays)
Space 550, 550 Barneveld Ave, San Francisco, CA 94124. Doors open at 7:45 PM. Beginning Bachata is at 8:00 PM, Beginning Salsa at 8:45 PM and Intermediate Bachata at 9:00 PM in the back room. Dancing continues until 1:30 AM across two rooms.
Friday is 21+ and there is free street parking. Event details are at dancefridays.com and tickets at dancefridays.fun. Space 550 also hosts Dance Saturdays on selected dates. The next one is Saturday, December 12, 2026 (dancesaturdays.com).
What to expect at either location
You do not need a partner or any experience. Most people come solo, and partners rotate so everyone gets to practise. Lessons start with the basic step, then partner work, then a turn or variation, and then the social dancing.
Salsa here is danced On1, an 8-count on 1-2-3, 5-6-7. Bachata is a 4-count side-to-side basic with a tap on 4, slower and easier on the first night. Wear anything you can move in, with smooth-soled shoes that stay on your feet.
How to take your first class
1. Pick a night: Monday if you want a class-first evening and the option of a series, Friday if you want a later nightclub night (21+).
2. Get a ticket: Mondays at salsabachatamondays.com, Fridays at dancefridays.fun. Buying ahead costs less. The Monday party is $10 in advance against $20 at the door, and series prices rise closer to the start.
3. Arrive on time, because the basic step comes first. Stay for the social afterwards, which is where the class turns into dancing.
Expect real steps in the first class, comfort at a social after one 4-week series, and confidence after two or three. For every other dance night in the region, sfdance.com has the full Bay Area calendar, and dancesanfrancisco.com covers where to dance in SF.
