Where the class is

SalsaCrazy is a salsa and bachata dance studio with multiple San Francisco locations, and both are in the city. From Sausalito, Mill Valley, San Rafael, Novato or elsewhere in Marin, a class with us means coming over the Golden Gate Bridge.

SalsaCrazy has taught San Francisco to dance since 1995. The Monday night has run for 20+ years. THE SalsaCrazy himself teaches the Monday classes personally — it is the only class he teaches.

Mondays: the Inner Richmond is on your side of the city

Mondays are at Neck of the Woods, 406 Clement St, San Francisco, CA 94118, in the Inner Richmond. Beginner salsa and beginner bachata start from 6:30 PM, followed by a dance party.

For Marin drivers, the Inner Richmond is in the northwest of San Francisco, so after the Golden Gate Bridge you do not need to cross downtown. Look for street parking on Clement and Geary, and allow for Monday evening bridge traffic.

By transit, Golden Gate Transit buses run between Marin and San Francisco, and Muni lines 1-California, 2-Clement and 38-Geary serve Clement Street. Check the current schedules for your stop before relying on a return trip.

Fridays at Space 550

Fridays are the second option: Space 550, 550 Barneveld Ave, San Francisco, CA 94124, near the Bayview. Doors open at 7:45 PM, Beginning Bachata is at 8:00 PM, Beginning Salsa at 8:45 PM and Intermediate Bachata at 9:00 PM, then dancing until 1:30 AM. Friday is 21+ and has free street parking, which matters if you are driving in. Tickets are at dancefridays.fun.

Space 550 is on the southeast side of the city, a longer drive from Marin than the Inner Richmond. Friday runs late, so plan your trip home.

The local Marin scene

We do not list Marin venues here, and we are not going to guess at them. For current dance listings in Marin and across the region, check sfdance.com, which has the full Bay Area calendar. For San Francisco nights, dancesanfrancisco.com covers where to dance in the city.

A plan for your first Monday

Book ahead at salsabachatamondays.com. The party alone is $10 in advance against $20 at the door. Aim to arrive before 6:30 PM, because the basic is taught first. Wear clothes you can move in and smooth-soled shoes that stay on. Come solo if you like: most people do, and partners rotate.

Salsa is an 8-count dance stepped on 1-2-3 and 5-6-7 (On1). Bachata is a 4-count side-to-side basic with a tap on 4, and it is usually easier the first night. If you enjoy the evening, a new 4-Week Progressive Series starts on the first Monday of each month. November 2026 is a 5-week series starting Monday, November 2.
